Privacy Policy

Draft — needs a lawyer before launch. This is written to be accurate about what the app
actually does, which is the hard part and the part a template gets wrong. It is not legal advice
and it has not been reviewed. A live version of this page is also required before A2P 10DLC
registration, which is what stops carriers filtering your text messages.
Who we are
HonestWork connects people who need home and yard work with local people who do it.
We operate in Jacksonville, Florida. Contact: support@findhonestwork.com.
What we collect, and why
- Your phone number — to sign you in and to text you about your jobs. We never show it to
the other side of a job and we never sell it.
- Your first name, and your last name — only the first name is public. A last name is
shared with the other party once a booking exists.
- The address of a job — visible to you and, after you award the job, to that worker
only. Before that, workers see the ZIP code and an approximate distance.
- Photos you post, and before/after photos taken by a worker in the app.
- Location, at two moments only — when a worker checks in at a job, and when they mark it
complete. We do not track location in the background, between jobs, or while driving. Those two
fixes plus time-stamped photos are what settle a dispute about whether the work happened.
- Messages sent through the app, which are scanned automatically for phone numbers and
payment handles.
- Payment details — handled entirely by Stripe. We never see or store your card number,
and for workers we never see or store bank details or a Social Security number.
Reviews are anonymous, and we mean it
A review published about you does not carry the author's name, and there is no path in the app —
for you or for us outside a trust & safety investigation — to find out who wrote it. That is
enforced in the database, not just hidden in the interface.
Who we share it with
Stripe (payments and payouts), our hosting and database provider, our push notification and SMS
providers, and a background check provider where a worker consents to a check. We do not sell
personal information.
How long we keep things
- Job records, photos and the check-in trail: kept while your account is open, then deleted with
it — except where we must keep transaction records for tax or dispute purposes.
- Messages: kept for the life of the job record.
- Payment records: kept as long as the law requires.
Deleting your account
You can delete your account from inside the app, and doing so deletes your profile, your photos
and your messages from our systems. Reviews you wrote about other people stay, because removing
them would let anyone erase honest feedback by closing an account — but they never carried your name
in the first place.
Your choices
You can turn off job alerts at any time, decline location access (you will not be able to check in
to jobs), and reply STOP to any text to stop SMS. To ask what we hold about you, email us.
