Draft — needs a lawyer before launch. This is written to be accurate about what the app
actually does, which is the hard part and the part a template gets wrong. It is not legal advice
and it has not been reviewed. A live version of this page is also required before A2P 10DLC
registration, which is what stops carriers filtering your text messages.
Who we are
HonestWork connects people who need small jobs done around the house with local people who do them.
We operate in Florida. Contact: support@findhonestwork.com.
What we collect, and why
- Your phone number — to sign you in and to text you about your jobs. We never show it to
the other side of a job and we never sell it.
- Your first name, and your last name — only the first name is public. A last name is
shared with the other party once a booking exists.
- The address of a job — visible to you and, after you award the job, to that worker
only. Before that, workers see the ZIP code and an approximate distance.
- Photos you post, and before/after photos taken by a worker in the app.
- Location, at two moments only — when a worker checks in at a job, and when they mark it
complete. We do not track location in the background, between jobs, or while driving. Those two
fixes plus time-stamped photos are what settle a dispute about whether the work happened.
- Messages sent through the app, which are scanned automatically for phone numbers and
payment handles.
- Payment details — handled entirely by Stripe. We never see or store your card number,
and for workers we never see or store bank details or a Social Security number.
- For workers, a photo ID check — before your first job, Didit, an identity verification
company, asks for a photo of a government ID (a driver's licence, state ID or passport) and a live
selfie, and compares the two to confirm the person on the account is the person on the ID. Didit
processes the photos and the face comparison on its own pages, with your consent there. They never
reach us. As soon as the check is finished we tell Didit to delete the photos, the selfie and
everything read from them, and its settings delete anything left after a month at most. We keep
only the result: whether the check passed, when, Didit's reference for it, and if it didn't pass,
the reason code it gave. Customers see that a worker's ID has been checked, never the ID. Checks
started before 25 October 2026 ran on Stripe Identity, which keeps those photos under its own
privacy policy.
- If you join the worker waitlist before launch — your first name, email, phone number, ZIP
code, the work you do, how far you'll drive, how you heard about us and anything you add in the
note. If you came from one of our posts, flyers or ads, the link fills in where you heard about us. We use it only to
call you about joining, and delete it when you ask.
Reviews are anonymous, and we mean it
A review published about you does not carry the author's name, and there is no path in the app —
for you or for us outside a trust & safety investigation — to find out who wrote it. That is
enforced in the database, not just hidden in the interface.
Who we share it with
Stripe (payments and payouts), Didit (the photo ID check for workers), our hosting and database provider, our email provider, our push
notification and SMS providers, and a background check provider where a worker consents to a
check. We do not sell personal information, and we do not use advertising or tracking cookies.
When something in the app breaks, it sends us a short technical report — the error, the page and
your browser type, and your account if you are signed in. We keep it in our own database to fix the
problem, and nobody else receives it.
We count visits to this site with Cloudflare Web Analytics. It sets no cookies and does not follow
you to other sites. It tells us how many people opened each page, roughly where in the world they
were and which site sent them, not who they are.
How long we keep things
- Job records, photos and the check-in trail: kept while your account is open, then deleted with
it — except where we must keep transaction records for tax or dispute purposes.
- Messages: kept for the life of the job record.
- Payment records: kept as long as the law requires.
- The ID check result: kept while your account is open, then deleted with it. The ID photo and
selfie are never kept by us, and Didit deletes them once the check is finished.
Deleting your account
You can delete your account from inside the app (Profile, then Delete account), and doing so
deletes your profile, the photos you posted with your jobs, any job nobody booked, and your messages
from our systems, and closes your sign-in for good. You can't delete while a job is still in progress
or a problem report is open, because money is being held for it.
Two things stay. Reviews you wrote about other people, because removing them would let anyone erase
honest feedback by closing an account — but they never carried your name in the first place. And the
record of a finished booking: the payment, any dispute, and the before-and-after photos, because the
other person on that job may need them as proof. Your name is removed from that record.
Your choices
You can turn off job alerts at any time, decline location access (you will not be able to check in
to jobs), and reply STOP to any text to stop SMS. To ask what we hold about you, email us.
