Your money is held, not sent. It goes to the worker when you confirm the job is done — or 72 hours after they mark it complete, if they checked in at your address and you haven't said anything. Until then it is still yours, and anything on this page that ends in a refund is a refund of money we are already holding.
Cancel a posted job any time, for any reason, at no cost. Nothing has been charged yet — we take payment when a worker is booked, not when you post.
Full refund. No fee, no penalty to either side. Plans change and a worker who hasn't set off hasn't lost anything but a slot.
[to decide] Proposed: full refund, but the cancellation is recorded on your account, and repeated late cancellations can limit posting. A worker who has turned down other work and is loading a trailer has lost their morning — but a cancellation fee on a brand-new platform is a good way to have no customers. The proposal is to start with a record and no fee, and revisit if it is abused.
Full refund, always, whenever it happens. The cancellation counts against that worker's completion rate, which is shown on their profile.
Full refund, and it counts against their completion rate as a no-show. A check-in records where the worker's phone was and how far that is from your address. If it wasn't near your address, the 72-hour timer never starts and nothing is released without you.
[to decide] Proposed: if the worker checked in at your address at the agreed time and could not start — gate locked, dog loose, nobody home — they keep an agreed minimum and the rest is refunded. Proposed minimum: one hour at the job's hourly rate, or $25, whichever is lower. This is the one case where a customer is refunded less than everything, and it needs to be stated plainly before anyone relies on it.
Full refund, no penalty to either side, and it does not count against anyone's completion rate. Florida is Florida.
That is not a cancellation — it is a price change. The worker proposes a new price from inside the job, you see it with their reason, and nothing happens until you agree. If you don't agree, the job can be cancelled under the rules above. Money is never taken on top of the agreed price without you approving it, and cash on the side is not a thing we support: it leaves both of you with no record and no protection.
Don't confirm. Open Something's not right on the job instead. The money stays held while it is looked at and nothing is released automatically, and both sides are asked for their side of it. The before and after photos, the check-in time and the distance from your address are all on file and all part of that decision. If it is withdrawn or decided in the worker's favour, you get a fresh 72 hours before anything releases.
Outcomes are a full refund, a partial refund, or release in full. With a partial refund the worker is paid on what you actually paid. Whichever way it goes, both sides are told why, and either side can ask for it to be looked at again.
A tip is its own payment, made after you have confirmed the job, and it goes to the worker straight away. Refunding the job never takes money from your tip, and a refund of the job never includes it. If you need a tip back — say you tipped the wrong amount — ask us at support@findhonestwork.com and we will look at it on its own.
We release it immediately. Your bank decides the rest, and 5–10 business days is normal for a card. We can't make that faster and neither can anyone else who tells you they can.
Open the job, then Something's wrong with this job. That routes it with the whole record attached, which is faster and fairer than an email with no context. If you can't get into the app, support@findhonestwork.com.
If you ask your bank to reverse the payment rather than asking us, we will tell them what we know, including the check-in record and the photos. The job is frozen while the bank decides, which usually takes weeks rather than the days it takes us. We would much rather sort it out here.
