How it works

  1. 1.Pick a job

    See the photos, the hours the customer is free and what you'll earn. Take their price or bid your own, and turn down anything.

  2. 2.Check in and take photos

    The customer has already paid before you head out. At the address, check in and take before and after photos in the app. They're your proof if anything is questioned.

  3. 3.Get paid when they confirm

    The money is released when the customer confirms the work, or 72 hours after you finish if you checked in at the address.

TV mounting, furniture assembly, hauling, moving help, house and window cleaning, pressure washing, gutters, yard work, holiday lights and more. Small jobs only, no licensed trades.

What you need

  • A smartphone with a working camera. Before and after photos are taken in the app.
  • A photo ID. A driver's licence, state ID or passport, for a two-minute check before your first job. It's free to you.
  • A bank account for payouts. You set this up in January, not now.
  • Your own tools and a way to get to the job.

Questions

Is it free to join?

Yes. No lead fees and no subscription, and quoting or bidding costs nothing. Every job and every bid shows what you'll earn before you send it.

When am I paid?

The customer pays when they book and we hold the money, so you never head out to a job nobody has paid for. The app won't let you check in on one. It's released when they confirm the work, or 72 hours after you finish if you checked in at the address. If there's a problem, a person reads the photos and the check-in and decides, and workers can appeal.

Do I need a licence?

HonestWork is for small home and yard jobs only. Licensed trades (HVAC, electrical, plumbing, roofing, gas and pest control) can't be booked through it at all. If you're not sure where your work fits, ask us when we get in touch.

Can I keep using other apps?

Yes. Keep them. The one rule: a customer you meet through HonestWork gets booked and paid through HonestWork. That's what keeps the payment protection on.

Who sets the price?

You do. Take the customer's fixed price or bid your own. The customer pays exactly the price you agreed, with nothing added on their side.
